MONTREAL POLICE APPEAL FOR EMERGENCY RESPONSE PARTNERSHIPS
The Montreal police service (SPVM) is appealing to businesses and building managers to encourage the organization of special training and simulation sessions. The objective of this project is to upgrade police practices and to improve coordination of police interventions with the efforts made by outside organizations in the case of a major event. These training/simulation sessions can be held during the day or during the evening.
What are the advantages of participating?
- Many institutions have their own in-house security service. This partnership will enhance coordination between the two parties.
- The police will be able to visit the premises of your in-house security service and check out the camera system used by your firm. The will also become familiar with the layout of your building (elevators, staircases, emergency plans, etc.) as well as any local problems.
- They will get a better feel for the building and will determine the best access points to the different floors and offices, depending on needs that arise. That knowledge of your local environment will help to improve both response time and effective actions in the event of an incident.
- Tenants, informed by your in-house communications, will see this partnership and coordination of efforts as an important sign that their safety and security are being taken seriously.
- Thus in the event of a real emergency call, actions will be more smoothly coordinated. Police officers will be deployed directly to your security team premises in order to secure the building and to be in direct contact with the security agents and police officers on the various floors.
- Joint communication will be improved, and the whole operation will be more effective.
