CONSULTATIONS WITH THE MINISTRY OF ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES (MERN)
On October 12 at the invitation of MERN, BOMA Quebec took part in discussions focused on identifying appropriate financing mechanisms to support and increase energy efficiency and energy substitution projects in the commercial sector.
It was thus an opportunity for BOMA to inform MERN about the obstacles related to financing investments in energy efficiency in the commercial real estate sector, and to convey the interests and concerns of building owners and managers as regards the financing solutions currently being studied.
This consultation was part of various approaches being made by the provincial government in the creation of the organization known as Transition énergétique Québec, which will serve as a new model for support and delivery of services related to innovation, energy efficiency and energy substitutions, in order to encourage energy consumers to reduce their carbon footprint.
This new organization will have a mandate to provide direct services such as financing services for consumers and businesses, loan guarantees, low-interest financing and consumer information services.
