By the end of 2024, all Quebec companies that have commercial activities or that own residential towers that generate organic waste will be subject to these new regulations.

Rather than placing composting bins in each building, there is another solution available. A new technology, introduced in 2016 by a Quebec-based company, eliminates composting bins and their management. This technology also eliminates the refrigerated waste room, odors and vermin in the waste storage area. The in-place ecosystem liquefies organic waste and allows for its recovery as renewable natural gas.
