CONFERENCE Summary:

Opening panel

Conference 1 : Building decarbonization – what you need to know

While Canada, like many countries, has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, it is important to understand the mechanisms that will help decarbonize the economy. During this panel, Jean-Michel Champagne will first present the major changes that have taken place in the past year and which presage the mandatory reporting requirements that companies will have to comply with. Then, Charles Thibodeau will explain what scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions are, and what companies must calculate. Finally, Philippe St-Jean will explain what intrinsic carbon is during construction projects, and how BIM can reduce these emissions during the design phase of a construction or renovation project.

Speakers :

  • Jean-Michel Champagne, M.Sc., MBA, HEC Montreal.
  • Charles Thibodeau PhD, CT Consultant
  • Philippe St-Jean, M.Sc. McGill University

Conference 2 : Case Study – Energy Efficiency Subsidies and Decarbonization

CAPREIT is one of the largest owners of residential buildings in Canada and is actively working on the energy transition of its building stock with the support of Krome Services. As a general contractor in energy efficiency, Krome Service also acts as Energy Advisor to CAPREIT.
