First Edition of “Building the Next Generation in Real Estate” Event Co-presented by BOMA & Ivanhoe Cambridge Real Estate Chair

The Ivanhoe Cambridge Real Estate Chair at ESG UQAM and BOMA Quebec joined forces in organizing the inaugural “Building the Next Generation in Real Estate” event at the CDP Capital Centre last week, the goal being to promote the diverse occupations in the world of real estate. Students and industry professionals exchanged information and ideas following the launch of six video clips highlighting real estate industry professions. Building the Next Generation The event allowed future graduates to meet with professionals and expand their network of contacts. “If we wish to stimulate and prepare qualified students for careers in the industry, we must first make them aware of the challenges and distinctive characteristics of the various occupations within the sector,” noted Anne Marie Guèvremont, president of BOMA Quebec. The event began with a discussion hosted by Jean-Paul Gagné, editor emeritus of Les Affaires magazine and holder of a Doctorate honoris causa from UQAM. Three industry professionals painted a portrait of real estate issues and challenges: Annie Daniel, general manager - Operations at Place Alexis Nihon, Avi Krispine, vice-president and sales manager with CBRE Quebec, and Dominic Gilbert, general manager at Canderel Management Inc. “Careers in Real Estate” Video Clips The get-together also marked the launch of six video clips on career positions in the industry. They featured experts in six different real estate sectors outlining the specific nature of their professions, and explaining the challenges and attractions of a career in their respective fields.
