Montreal's Maison symphonique like you've never seen it!
Seize this opportunity to visit the sumptuous Maison symphonique in the company of Matthew Lella, lead architect with Diamond Schmitt Architects and the project manager. A unique rendezvous and a very special look at his superb building.
Work began in 2009 and the Maison symphonique was completed in 2011 at a cost of $259 million in a public and private partnership. The architectural design was a joint effort also involving the Montreal architectural and design firm Aedifica. Mr. Lella was responsible for designing the performance space, the facades and the public spaces. His expertise in amphitheatre design meant that he worked in close collaboration with acousticians, consultants and the clients to achieve highly refined acoustics, exceptional sight lines and thrilling architecture.
The Maison symphonique de Montréal can seat 1900 spectators, 200 members of the chorus and 120 musicians. It is the 6th venue at Place des Arts and the principal residence of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, which shares the space with Orchestre Métropolitain, I Musici de Montréal and the Violons du Roy.
It is a real acoustic gem, and a flagship venue that gives Montreal a leading position on the international cultural scene.
